Perth Paediatrics’ speech pathologists have expertise in various communication disorders and swallowing disorders. Speech pathologists work collaboratively with other professionals on interdisciplinary teams. Referrals can come from a paediatrician, GP’s or parents.

Services Include

  • Reading, spelling and writing.
  • Producing words and sounds clearly or accurately & clearly.
  • Producing complete or grammatically correct sentences.
  • Vocabulary, regular use of non-specific language (that one, this thing, over there) and difficulty finding the right words, compared to their peers.
  • Oral narrative (e.g. personal recount, story retell).
  • Understanding and answering questions
  • Remembering, sequencing and following instructions in class.
  • Stuttering
  • Voice difficulties- eg a very hoarse, scratchy, quiet or unusual sounding voice.
  • Social interactions- eg making and keeping friends, holding conversations, understanding the expected behaviours/responses in social situations
  • Playing with their peers
  • Mealtimes- concerns with eating and/or drinking
